Practicing assertiveness skills allows individuals to confidently express their opinions and set boundaries. When someone is able to say "no" to drugs or alcohol without feeling guilty or pressured, they demonstrate self-respect and build resilience against peer pressure. In contrast, avoiding all social situations could lead to isolation and may not provide the skills needed to handle peer pressure in the future. Agreeing with peers to gain acceptance can compromise one's personal values and lead to risky behavior.
